Harrow Athletics Club
Andrew has been a member of the Harrow Athletics Club for some time, and regularly trains at the Bannister Sports Ground in Harrow Weald. The Stadium is named after Sir Roger Bannister, who was the first person to run a mile in under four minutes.
The club was formed in 1921 and was originally known as "Old Gaytonians AC" with its membership being composed of the old boys of Harrow County Grammar School (not to be confused with the famous Harrow public school, which is on nearby Harrow Hill).
Today, the club has over 250 members, predominantly in the younger athlete age groups with a thriving Young Athletes team and senior teams.
Past members who have gained international honours include Richard Philps, Phil O’Brien and Hamish McInnes. Current members include Adam Bowden and decathletes Dean Macey and Jamie Quarry, who represented Scotland in the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
The Harrow Athletics Club Web Site contains details of their meetings, and news about the club.
